Lounge – Your groups and events, no distractions

Lounge is wholly committed to the joint mission of data privacy and user mental health, in contrast to traditional big tech. The platform requires the absolute minimum amount of data for account creation (name and phone number) and this simple private approach underpins our commitment to privacy that we have always upheld.

Lounge App for iOS and android (the app) is provided by ScaleTech Ltd trading as Lounge (‘we’, ‘our’ or ‘us’). We take your privacy very seriously. Please read this privacy policy carefully as it contains important information on how and why we collect, store, use and share any information relating to you (your information). It also explains your rights in relation to your information and how to contact us or the relevant regulator in the event you have a complaint. Our collection, storage, use and sharing of your information is regulated by law, including under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). We are the controller of your information obtained via the app, meaning we are the organisation legally responsible for deciding how and for what purposes it is used. If you are aged under 13 you must not use the app as it is not designed for you. We do not intend to collect the information of anyone under 13. If you are aware that any information of anyone under 13 has been shared with the app, please let us know so that we can delete that data. This version of our privacy policy is primarily written for adults, including parents and guardians of child users. If you are a child aged over 13, you are welcome to read this policy if you find it useful, but we recommend you seek assistance when reviewing this policy or look online to see the key information in a form written for people under 18.

What this policy applies to

This privacy policy relates to your use of the app only. The app links to Google’s Cloud Storage system to securely store your information so that your account details can be maintained. Any apps, websites or services we integrate into our platform may also gather information about you in accordance with their own separate privacy policies. For privacy information relating to these other apps, websites or services, please consult their privacy policies as appropriate.

Information we collect about you

The information we collect about you depends on the particular activities carried out through the app. We will collect and use the following information about you:​

  • The name and phone number you use to log you in to your account

  • Basic usage data when you use specific functions in the app

  • Data you store online with us using the app including messages and images sent on the app so that you are able to view this data when you return to the platform

We collect information from you directly when you sign up to the app or RSVP to events that you have been invited to or indirectly, such as your activity while using the app.

Marketing

We will use your information to send you updates by email, text message or telephone about our platform including exclusive offers, promotions or new features.

​We have a legitimate interest in using your information for marketing purposes (see above ‘How and why we use your information’).

This means we do not need your consent to send you marketing information. If we change our marketing approach in the future so that consent is needed, we will ask for this separately and clearly.

You have the right to opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time by:

We will always treat your information with the utmost respect and never share it with other organisations outside the ScaleTech Ltd Group for marketing purposes.

Who we share your information with

We routinely share your information with:

  • service providers we use to help us run our business or provide the services or functionalities in the app. This primarily includes Google, who we use for cloud storage, and other service providers we see fit.

  • The app stores which our app is listed on (Apple and Android).

We only allow companies to handle your information if we are satisfied, they take appropriate measures to protect your information.

We or the third parties mentioned above occasionally also need to share your information with:

  • law enforcement agencies, courts or tribunals and regulatory bodies to comply with legal and regulatory obligations

  • other parties that have or may acquire control or ownership of our business (and our or their professional advisers) in connection with a significant corporate transaction or restructuring, including a merger, acquisition, asset sale, initial public offering or in the event of our insolvency—usually, information will be anonymised but this may not always be possible. The recipient of any of your information will be bound by confidentiality obligations


Please note that other users on the platform will be able to ‘follow’ you and send you invitations to events or lounges. These users do not have access to any of your personal data. In general, other users on the platform can only see the total number events you have attended and the day and month of your birthday (if you choose to upload that). Other users cannot see the year of your birthday or the specific events you have been to. 

How long your information will be kept

We will store your information while you have an account with our platform.

If you delete your account, or contact us asking us to delete your information, we will endeavour to delete or anonymise your information within a reasonable period.

Keeping your information secure

We have appropriate security measures to prevent your information from being accidentally lost, or used or accessed unlawfully. We limit access to your information to those who have a genuine business need to access it.

We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.
